There is a lack of publicly available information regarding immigration detention practices in Switzerland, including notably with respect to the situation of immigrant children in official custody. To address this gap, Terre des hommes commissioned the Global Detention Project (GDP) to carry out a survey covering each canton in Switzerland with the aim of comprehensively assessing the situation of non-citizen children who are placed in detention for reasons related to their immigration status. The data developed by the GDP was employed by Terre des hommes to produce this report, in which it argues for reforms in some of its detention practices.
