ABOUT

This prison, located in southwest Türkiye close to the Syrian border, has been cited in reports by NGOs and international organisations for its use for immigration enforcement reasons, including allegations of the torture of children. In 2023, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child noted its concern "about reports of torture and inhuman and degrading treatment and incommunicado detention of children by prison guards in closed institutions, including in the Diyarbakir closed penal institution."
