ABOUT

In February 2025, the Decapolis Hotel, in downtown Panama City, was used to hold undocumented migrants deported from the USA. While Panamanian authorities denied that deportees were being detained in the facility, reports indicate otherwise: migrants were not permitted to leave the hotel, the building was guarded by police officers, and lawyers reported difficulties in speaking with the deportees. The GDP thus classes the facility as an ad hoc detention site.
